Greetings To Our Valued Members and Honored Guests!
Welcome to the Green Pond Yacht Club
As you peruse this site, we would love to begin by sharing brief information about the long and fascinating history surrounding this water-side retreat. Beginning in the early 1950′s, this location was a small family business which bought shellfish from local fishermen and retailed it to the area residents. As time evolved, fishing tackle was added to the sales roster and a scale was set in place – A scale which recorded several world record catches! In the 1980′s, GPYC received another milestone in the form of changing its official zone from ‘Residential’ to ‘Marina.’ As we continued to move forward in our growth, we renovated the entire interior by 1994, turning it into a retail fish market which debuted the now famous ‘Green Pond Stuffer.’ Commodore Turner purchased the full marina property in 2000, making numerous upgrades, including the addition of new docks and a two-story workshop. At long last, the idea for the yacht club was born during a late afternoon cocktail while Commodore Turner and Vice-Commodore Clarkson were boating in Oak Bluffs. It was this spark that culminated with our grand opening over Memorial Day 2011!
We are proud to present the following amenities for you to enjoy during your visit to the Yacht Club:
Clubhouse . . . with its custom inlaid exotic wood floors, artist designed & crafted stained glass, hand painted murals, and cedar topped vaulted ceiling.
Dining . . .offering lots of local seafood and many home recipes (I am understandably bias about my very own shrimp recipe!) of outstanding quality and prepared with great care and expertise by exceptional talent.
